Saint Catherine of Siena

The Middle Ages was a period of old world history and ran from about the 5th century to the 15th. During the Middle Ages the Christian Church was a central part to most people's lives. Many people went to church on Sundays and then sometimes on other days.

Although, the church was not just used for religious reasons, it was also used for secular purposes. Monasteries were centers of learning and also provided social services – taking care of the sick and old in the infirmaries and educating children in the monastic school.

Saint Catherine of Siena is the saint that I have chosen to talk about. She was the first of the women doctors to be born and her achievements were perhaps the greatest changes in church history.
